Description
Large Enamel Mug Redwood National Park
A little history.
In many western films, cowboys can be seen drinking coffee around the campfire, the coffee maker often being placed directly in contact with the fire.
The first attempts at enamelled metal tableware date back to the end of the 18th century. As the enameling technique was not yet fully mastered, the products were only enamelled inside the container. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century that the technique was perfectly mastered on the inside and outside of steel tableware pieces less than a millimeter thick. The quality of these products was then a great success because beyond the solidity they brought a guarantee of hygiene and resistance to corrosion. They then made the happiness of many campers.
Advice
If the enamelled steel is perfectly resistant to high temperatures, subsequent washing in the dishwasher may dull the colors and reduce the shine of the enamel. Hand washing will prolong the look of your mug.
Although virtually unbreakable, if dropped, the enamel may chip.
